Frequently Asked Questions

What PTSD-related needs do you address?

We help with intrusive memories and nightmares; hypervigilance and startle; avoidance and emotional numbing; guilt, shame, and moral injury; sleep problems; dissociation; panic/anxiety; depression; substance use; relationship strain; and reintegration after military, first-responder, or other occupational trauma. We also support caregivers and families.

What approaches do you use in PTSD care?

We tailor care using evidence-based, trauma-focused methods such as Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Prolonged Exposure (PE), EMDR, trauma-focused CBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), skills for emotion regulation and grounding, mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), and brief stabilization work. When appropriate, we coordinate with prescribing clinicians for medication management.

How can PTSD treatment help me or my loved one?

Treatment can reduce flashbacks, nightmares, and avoidance; improve sleep and concentration; ease irritability and shame; and strengthen relationships and daily functioning. You’ll learn practical tools to manage triggers, increase a sense of safety, and reconnect with valued activities—supporting durable recovery.

Can services help if I don’t have a formal diagnosis or I’m not ready to discuss details?

Yes. We can start with stabilization, coping skills, and education without going into trauma narratives. Many strategies—grounding, sleep protocols, pacing, and values-based planning—are effective even while evaluation is underway or if detailed processing isn’t yet right for you.

How long does PTSD treatment usually take?

Duration varies by goals and approach (e.g., 8–12 sessions for CPT/PE, shorter skills blocks, or longer integrative care). In early sessions, we set measurable goals, agree on frequency (weekly, biweekly, or intensive formats), and review progress regularly to determine the most helpful length of care.
